Take a walk with Betty Sweetlove
Join Betty for one of two collaborative walks. For anyone who has a feeling for the overlooked, ignored or the invisible, the walks will explore the transformation of Alice Springs’ Old Gaol into the Women’s Museum of Australia, looking for connections and tensions across the site’s layered history.
Betty Sweetlove is an early career artist working in a range of fields including writing for performance, walking-based arts and heritage research. Having grown up in the UK, she left London in 2014 and has called Alice Springs home almost ever since. In London she studied history at SOAS, focusing on the history of theatre within struggles for African independence. Betty has been involved in multiple local events including zine fairs, performances and walking tours. She is developing an interdisciplinary arts practice that explores historical narratives through performance. Betty sits on the committee of Totem Theatre and has recently written a play for their Short Play Festival.
